Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

What is the treatment?

A quick, minimally invasive procedure with little downtime to restore facial volume loss.

The aging process is accompanied by a diminished capacity of our bodies to produce adequate amounts of hyaluronic acid and collagen. This gradual decline in both substances, coupled with alterations in facial fat distribution, contributes to shifts in facial volume and the loss of volume. Consequently, there is a decrease in skin hydration and elasticity, accompanied by an increase in skin laxity.

Dermal fillers consist of an injectable form of hyaluronic acid within a clear gel. While this substance naturally occurs in the body, its levels deplete with age.

Dermal fillers offer versatile effects, serving purposes such as:

  • Reducing superficial, medium, and deep lines or wrinkles
  • Filling hollow areas
  • Smoothing contours
  • Adding or restoring volume to facial regions like lips, cheeks, and temples

The eyes often display the initial signs of aging. The tear trough, situated beneath the eye and upper cheek, experiences volume loss as we age, leading to thinner skin and drooping. This results in a deeper and darker tear trough appearance, often accompanied by eye bags.

The lips. Need we say more?

Safe and adhering to European and FDA standards.

Precision-focused to deliver accurate results.

Minimal downtime/healing time or risk of complications when administered by a healthcare professional.

Results are enduring yet non-permanent. Dermal fillers naturally break down in the body over 6-18 months, with both the fillers and their effects gradually dissipating.

What are the benefits?

As we age the emergence of lines, wrinkles, and hollows is a consequence of volume loss, leading to the appearance of jowls and superficial fat deposits when the underlying structural support diminishes. Dermal fillers serve as a versatile solution, addressing deep, medium, and superficial lines and wrinkles, filling hollow areas, and refining contours. They can also enhance or restore volume in facial regions like lips, cheeks, and temples.

The initial signs of aging often manifest around the eyes. The tear trough, situated beneath the eye and upper cheek, experiences volume loss and thinning skin with aging, causing a drooping effect. This contributes to the deepening and darkening of the tear trough, accompanied by the onset of eye bags.

A comprehensive discussion about your medical history takes place during the consultation. While generally safe for most individuals, it is advisable to postpone treatment if pregnant or breastfeeding. Treatment may not be suitable if undergoing immune therapy or cancer treatment.

Dermal fillers, composed of hyaluronic acid, a clear, non-animal-based gel, are injected beneath the skin to bind water and stimulate collagen regrowth. Using a fine sterile needle or cannula, the filler is injected into areas with volume loss, smoothing wrinkle lines and restoring volume.

Since each client’s skin and goals are unique, a personalised consultation with Dr Sultana is crucial before any advanced non-surgical treatment. The consultation covers problem areas, desired improvements, available options (including no treatment), and expected outcomes.

If dermal fillers are deemed suitable, the skin is thoroughly cleansed, and the treatment area is anesthetised using a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) or a dental nerve block for minimal discomfort.

Once the treatment area is numbed, the filler is injected beneath the skin’s surface using an ultra-fine needle, followed by gentle massage. The entire procedure typically takes 30 to 40 minutes, including an additional 30 minutes for the anaesthetic to take effect.

Immediately after the procedure, the treatment area may exhibit slight redness or swelling. However, normal activities can be resumed immediately. Some individuals may experience mild bruising and swelling, which usually resolves naturally within 10 days.
