Fat Dissolving Injections

About the treatment

Fat Dissolving Injections are a secure and efficient treatment designed to reduce fat cells in the targeted area, delivering long-lasting results and allowing you to address those troublesome areas effectively.

These injections are suitable for treating small pockets of fat that may be resistant to exercise, including areas such as the chin, chest, underarm pouches, bra fat, upper arms, abdomen, thighs, knees, and ankles. While highly effective for body contouring, it’s important to note that this treatment is not intended for weight loss.

Composed of various refined plant-based compounds, these injections work by dissolving the membranes of fat cells in the treated area. This process renders the fat cells unstable, causing them to break open. Subsequently, the fatty acids within the cells are eliminated by macrophages, a component of the body’s immune system, and the liver.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re leading a healthy lifestyle, close to your ideal weight, yet have stubborn fat in isolated areas, injectable dissolving might be suitable.

Commonly treated areas include double chins, moobs, bra and underarm pouches, upper arms, saddlebags, inner thighs, ‘cankles’, and the abdomen, including defining a six-pack. The jowl area can also be sculpted with Cincelar+.

If you carry significant weight in the target area, fat dissolving might not be suitable, but we offer other body contouring treatments. If you’ve recently lost significant weight, the concern may be loose skin, which we can improve with skin tightening treatments.

A consultation with our highly trained therapist will determine the correct treatment plan for you.

Fat dissolving is not suitable if you:

  • Have diabetes
  • Have liver or kidney disease
  • Have an active skin problem in the area to be treated
  • Are taking blood-thinning medicine, e.g., warfarin.

Fat injections can target stubborn fat pockets in the following areas:

  • Stomach (inc. Six-pack definition)
  • Love handles
  • Arms
  • Chin
  • Flanks and waist
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Area under the buttocks (banana roll)
  • Underarms and armpits
  • Under-bra area
  • Knees
  • Back

It’s crucial to note that fat dissolving injections are a body contouring and sculpting treatment, not a weight loss solution. Treatments are advisable for small, localised areas. Patients must be within one stone of their recommended body weight and able to pinch about 3cm of fat.

The results are permanent under the condition of maintaining a constant weight measurement. Destroying fat cells is a permanent solution provided you maintain a stable weight, eat healthily, and exercise regularly. Fat injections lead to a permanent reduction of fatty tissue; once removed, fat cells will not reappear.

As Fat Injections are a non-surgical solution, there are no general anaesthetic risks. No incisions mean no stitches, and scarring is very unlikely.

Patients typically experience minimal side effects compared to more invasive procedures like liposuction. Temporary side effects include bruising, swelling, redness, and irritation in the injection area. Sometimes it may feel slightly tender, numb, or itchy, but these side effects usually subside after 1-3 days but may last up to 4 weeks.

A reduction in fat deposits can be seen after just one treatment, but additional treatments (up to 8) may be required to achieve desired results.

A reduction in fat in the targeted area can be noted from 4 weeks post-treatment. The speed at which noticeable results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes; younger patients are more likely to see results after a longer period. In very small fat pockets, the desired results can already be seen after one treatment.

As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment.

This treatment is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for those people who have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy or any pathological conditions.
